1. Service provider

2. What the service does
You describe a meaning in your own words. With the help of artificial intelligence we coin new words for it, check them, and record the word you choose to you in the public dictionary on this website. The record gets a page, a printable certificate, a share card and an independent timestamp. With the Gift plan the record is made to the person you choose and delivered to them by e-mail on the date you pick, with a gift card and your personal note; if you give no e-mail address, we send the gift card to you. With a gift voucher you pay for a word in advance; the person who receives it writes the meaning, chooses their word, and the word is recorded to them with your name as the giver. We can also check and record a word you came up with yourself; in that case you declare that you created it. The service is entirely digital: everything is delivered online and by e-mail, and no physical goods are shipped.
3. Who can use it
You must be at least 18 years old to buy. If you record a word for someone else (for example as a gift), you are responsible for the record and for these terms.
4. What you get, and what you don't
You get a symbolic, personal record in this dictionary, recorded to you. The record only has meaning on this website and within this dictionary. You do not get a trademark, copyright, domain name, business name or any other ownership or usage right in the word, and you cannot assert it as exclusive against anyone. Others may say, write and use the word and register it as a trademark; we have no duty to prevent that. While your record is valid, we do not record the same word to anyone else in this dictionary.
5. How long a record is valid
A record has no fixed term. It is valid only for as long as this website is online and the service is operated by us. If we close the website, end the service, or transfer the website or the service to someone else, the records and their pages, certificates and share cards cease to be valid, and the price paid is not refunded except where the law requires it. After a transfer, it is up to the new operator whether to keep the records. Where possible, we will e-mail you at least 30 days before ending or transferring the service. The proof files you can download continue to show the date a record was made, but they create no rights once the website is closed.
6. How words are checked
Before recording, a word is checked against dictionaries in 16 languages, an exact-match web search, and an automated review for unwanted meanings in other languages. We do not search trademark registers. These checks only reflect the sources we looked at on the date of recording; we do not guarantee that a word has never been used by anyone, anywhere, or that it conflicts with no trademark.
7. Your content
The meaning you write and the name a word is recorded to are published publicly, and you are responsible for them. Do not submit unlawful, hateful, harassing or sexual content, content that glorifies violence, or content that demeans a real person. Refer to other people only by a first name or nickname; do not include surnames, contact details, addresses, ID numbers or private information such as health, sex life, religion, ethnicity, political views, criminal record or finances. Submissions are reviewed automatically before publication; we may refuse, correct or remove content that breaks these rules. You give us a free, non-exclusive permission to publish the meaning and the name on the word's page, certificate, share card and in dictionary listings; this permission ends when the record ends. You are responsible for any infringement of third-party rights caused by content you submit.
8. Reporting an infringement
Anyone who believes a record infringes a trademark, name, personality or privacy right can write to contact@awordfor.com. Please say who you are, give the address of the word's page, the right you rely on (for a trademark: registration number, classes and country) and your reasons. We answer requests about personality rights and privacy within 24 hours and take down content we find justified. Other requests are assessed within a reasonable time, taking the record's date and content into account.
9. Our position towards trademark owners
A dictionary entry is a personal, symbolic record of a newly coined word together with a meaning. We do not use the word to distinguish goods or services, do not sell goods or services under it and do not use it in advertising; what we sell is the service of coining and recording it. The check results from the date of recording and the independent timestamp show when the record came into existence. A trademark owner's request therefore does not lead to removal automatically: we assess it together with the record's date and content, and where appropriate we may add a note that the word is also a registered trademark of a third party instead of removing the entry. Using the word outside this website (for example as a product, company or domain name) is entirely your own responsibility and requires your own trademark search.
10. Removal or change of a record
We may remove, hide, correct or annotate a record when a court or competent authority orders it, when an infringement claim is reasonable and documented, or when the content breaks these terms; where possible we tell the record holder first. If a record is removed for a reason that is not your fault, we coin a new word for you free of charge; if fewer than 14 days have passed since purchase, you may instead have a full refund. If removal is caused by content you submitted that breaks these terms or the rights of others, there is no refund.
11. Prices, payment and delivery
Prices are shown before payment and are one-time. Payments are processed by Paddle.com Market Ltd as merchant of record: Paddle issues the invoice, collects applicable VAT and handles payment issues and refunds, and Paddle's buyer terms also apply to the purchase. Once payment is confirmed, usually within seconds, your word is recorded, its page is published and the links are sent to the e-mail address you paid with. For a Gift, the gift e-mail goes out at 09:00 on the day you chose, in the city you chose (your own time zone by default); to change the date, write to us before it is sent. A gift voucher code is sent to your e-mail address once payment is confirmed; if you gave the recipient's address, the voucher also goes to them at the same hour on the day you chose. A gift voucher is a single-use prepaid voucher, valid only for recording one word on this website; it has no cash value and cannot be exchanged for money or other products, reloaded or split. It does not expire and is valid for as long as this website is online.
12. Refunds and exchanges
The record is delivered immediately after payment. Within 14 days of purchase you can ask for a full refund without giving any reason; the refunded word's page is removed and the word is released. Instead of a refund, you can choose to swap your word for a new one once, free of charge, within the same period. Details are in the Refund and Exchange Policy.
13. Liability
The service is provided as is. We are not liable for temporary outages, for third parties using or registering a word, or for consequences of using a word outside this website. Except for intent, gross negligence and cases where the law does not allow a limitation, our liability is limited to the amount you paid for the record concerned.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms; the current text is published on this page. We will e-mail you about significant changes that are to the disadvantage of existing records. How personal data is processed is described in the Privacy Policy.
15. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by Turkish law, without prejudice to the mandatory consumer protection rules of the country you live in. Consumers in Turkey may apply to consumer arbitration committees within the statutory monetary limits, and otherwise to consumer courts.
